Instead of doing Sundial Crack, does anyone have any info on what the route is if you climb straight up from the P1 anchors toward the 'parking lot'? Basically from where the trail comes up at the bottom of Sundial Crack, I climbed straight up from there working slightly left to get to the 'parking lot'.

Josh, unless it's new, it's not a route I know of. That's not to say that it hasn't been climbed before. It likely has; that whole face is climbable in almost every direction. When I used to live out that way, I always finished Sundial by cutting left to the Parking Lot Ledge once I was out of the crack. In fact... come to think of it... I don't think I've ever actually finished Sundial the correct way.

Yeah...didn't think it was anything new I was just looking for a route name (if there is one). It seems like such a plumb line (and unless I'm mistaken it is 'independent' of Peregrine and Sundial) of 300ft of eyebrows. I've actually gotten 'off-route' on Sundial twice now. The last time I climbed the crack and worked left (which I thought the route went to the Parking Lot after the crack) but not left enough. I was even with the bolts of the rap station at the Parking Lot...talk about a sketchy traverse. This last weekend I climbed to the first belay that's right at the trailhead and instead of working right to the 2nd belay...continued climbing straight up for about 180 feet. Really good climbing...although a little runout. A group above mentioned climbing the same thing. Adam Fox was guiding below and mentioned having seen people climb it before also and thinking it looked cool...

I just wanted to mention that standing at the P1 anchor, I said, "Josh, are you sure those aren't the bolts we're going to over there?" "No, they're not" (Josh) "Are you sure?" (me) "Yes, I'm positive, stop asking." (Josh) A few minutes later..."ummm, Erin, I think those bolts over to the right are where we were supposed to go." It ended up being a fun route, so...All is well :)
