Hey, I am thinking about a trip to Red River Gorge. I will be driving there from New Hampshire. Anybody have any ideas on good places to stop on the way, or anything I should know about Red River before going. Thank you.

I'm headin that way from CT shortly? As in maybe tomorrow. Was gonna go to the NRG first. RRG sounds like it has some break in problems. Do ya need a partner?

Morgantown is right along the way, according to mapquest. Cooper's Rock State Forest has a pretty nice $20 a night campground. Has some decent routes, plenty of awesome boulders to explore. They're everywhere. NRG isn't that far off course but other than that I can only really say what's in the Boston area which is probably too close to NH to start stopping anyways.

I would love to take you up on your offer, but I am working. I won't be going to RRG for a while. I am just trying to get info now so it will be easier to plan the trip and take time off from work. Thanks for the offer though.

Thank you. there are no good places to stop, if you were hard core you would drive strait and fuel your car with desire after you expended all you gas. the red river gorge is full man eating dinosaurs, watch land before time I-LXXVIICM to learn how to defeat them. seriously, the new looks cool, i'm going their this fall. got no idea what's further north. hollar while your down, i try to get out at leat 2 a week. oh yah, i was joking about the dinosaurs, i just think they are neat.

To hijack an already random thread... Anybody ever go to Charlie's at the New? It's that place where you turn off 16 onto Gatewood to go to Kaymoor-- underneath "Sherry's". I've always been curious, but never wanted to get beat up or anything.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Rockhouse...is that the only place really close to the Red that serves beer on tap? No local dives?

And half the places you can visit are in a dry county. The night life down there generally consists of a campfire or using the campground wireless signal to play on your laptop.
