I finally found out that Hugh Banner is no longer making the infamous offsets anymore. Unfortunately, I lost my smalls somehow. I dont really like the small Black Diamond micro nuts with the trapezoid head, the offset trapezoid head by HB rocks. Is there anything similar out there comaprable to the small HB offsets? I stopped buying climbing mags (too many adds) years ago so have been out of touch of anything new. Thx, Mike

DMM will not be producing offsets. The rights are still owned by Hugh and DMM decided that it would be too cost intensive to produce them. A previous employee of HB has the rights to make them, but has signed an exclusive sales deal with Yosemite Mountain Shop. So, if you want them, this will be the only place to get them. This is directly from DMM.

HOLY CRAP! Didn't they'd have them already!! re: DMM, I really find it odd that such a big company can't produce them without doubling the price but ONE person can make them in their garage, no problem. :?

I noticed the last time I was down there that they only have the brass offsets. Is anyone going to make the aluminum ones? Did DMM decide that both were too expensive, or just the brass?

DMM will not make any of them. the one person can do it because she already has the equipment to do so. The guy from DMM said it would be too expensive to acquire the equipment and the rights to do it.

Not sure why, but in my travels I've found that the brass ones are easier to find and get than the alu ones. Ebay is a good start. Small climbing shops scattered around are other places you can find them lurking in the corner somewhere. My girl and I found about 6 or 7 alu ones in Natimuk, Australia about a year ago..... there were double that amount there, so we should have bought them all while we were there.

http://cgi.ebay.com/...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 here's a set on ebay, missing the #10. Funny story, I actually got into a bidding war with a climbing partner (and RC.commer) without knowing it on a set of these a while back. D'oh! (She won) We climbed on them a couple weeks later and I was glad to have them, as I whipped all over the #9.

Use Frost Nuts (they are made of steele but are just as sweet as HB's) and for the broze replacment use Astros.

DMM's peenuts work quite well...the wire loops through the head so you can still cinch off rivets er whatever....plus if you whip and weld one they are pretty strong and you don't have to worry about busting the cable out of the head.....they are off-set.....they don't get quite as small as the Hb's but still pretty tiny and nestle well into pin scars..i love mine...esp in sandstone
