only outside BC it seems you can walk off a forest path in that province and come across it in 5 minutes more of less B.C.'s marijuana is worth more than the Canadian dollar in the United States and that's not sitting well with the Americans. B.C. hydroponic bud goes for about $6,000 a pound across the border. Its a 5 Billion dollar business there and only 300 agents cover the 8,850-km Canada-U.S border there. If you can't beat em, join em and reap the profits i say.. can you imagine the tax dollars coming in?? [ This Message was edited by: acrophobic on 2002-09-05 10:09 ]

Revenue! Hey maybe Bush could fund a new war on drugs with tax revenue from legal pot..wait a minute..maybe not. I imagine the tobacco industry would definitely jump into the fray though.

Yes they want to legalize pot. They key word is legalize, like booze. That means government regulations. Whats going to happen when you need a liscence to grow it, and distribute it. Imagine if they tried to control the strains to control THC content, that wouldn't be fun. Legalization means more Big Brother in a wholesome underground industry

well either way it is now a sit and watch game if canada does leagalize then we will have to see how it controls and regulates the marijuana....but one can hope that if this works well in canada maybe someone in a white house would get the hint...doubt it though....didn't work with universal heath care....but one can hope and pray....but if this works maybe there will not be so many stoners in colorado they will all move to canada...can you think less people in the front range!!!!!! WOW maybe then boulder can be cool again

I'm trying to figure out why this was revived. From what I understand Bill C-38 basically states that posession for personal use (15 grams or less [?]) will no longer be subject to a criminal charge, but rather only a fine of $150 in the case of adults and $100 in the case of minors. I don't know if the bill will go through under this government given that it's a minority government, but then again, with the way I follow politics it may have already gone through for all I know. I might have just been too stoned to notice. Essentially, for something so minor, if I want to smoke up I'm going to make my decision without any real consideration for the law. Laws are only rules to maintain order in society (though often not an order I respect) and it disturbs me when people confuse that with laws being rules to govern morality.

No, it's old. Oddly enough it's been revived on two seperate occasions now.
