So did you go and update the routes and add the correct info or add that it is not on public land and access may somehow be restricted or that there are some special issues with this area? Or did you just start another post to rant about everyone else's incompetence? Jason

Hey Manny, go to the routes database, find the area you're pissed about, scroll down to the route you want to fix and click the edit button. Have at it.

I can NEVER tell what friggin region these regional discussions stem from. There's no way tot ell. Frankly, this subforum is stupid. Hey, we're having a regional discussion here, butt out. What reagion. Noneaya goddanged business! I just don't see the utility of a regional discussion thread that doesn't clearly state the region in the title. Should be automatic, considering the 'dontchya dare post here warning msg on the subforum page. DMT

I can never tell from what region these regional discussions come from. Its a stupid subforum and unless you know the names of every climbing area in the world, determining the region of a french sounding mountain name is essentially useless. Go to the subforum and it says don't post here. Go to the region. But when the thread gets created there is no reference to the region at all. Circular logic, very stupid. DMT

In addition to the above-mentioned ability to indicate the private nature of the land and the low-profile nature of the climbing by editing the routesdb directly, there is also an area where threads like this are listed. And of course, when I went to check it out, there was this thread present: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...iewtopic.php?t=67725 Which already discussed the access issues in some detail, though no consensus was reached. So my advice would be to research before lashing out, and to contribute where you can to encourage others to be mindful of the local access issues. Since 99.9% of RC.com members have never been to Mont Rigaud, it would be pretty easy to use our RDB listing to give us all a 'first impression' of Mont Rigaud that includes detailed information about how to be a responsible climber there, as well as accurate climb names and difficulty ratings, though you should do some research before refuting anyone's claim to having done the FA of a given line. Numerous RDB entries already exist that give access restriction information, and many local avocacy organizations have found it easier to publish access restriction information in our RDB than attempting to hold back the floodgates of the Information Age, as it were, by trying to keep a crag secret. -aB

HEY MANNY Your editing of the routes is not accurate (ie. 40 Foot Smurf). Maybe I should just post my pictures for all to see but I seem to remember someone chewing me out for posting them on Flickr. The whole Rigaud DB. is messed up. It's impossible to make heads or tails of where the sections are. Not to mention that 80% of the climbs are not posted

I couldn't agree with you more Dingus!!! You can click on the name of the climbing area, in this case Mont Rigaud, which appears right below the name of the thread, and the page you're taken to tells you where the area is. You can right-click and bring the new page up in a new window (or tab) if you don't want to disrupt your current browser window. That feature has been present for at least a year, probably for far longer than that. -aB
