Sir Ranulph Fiennes will attempt the Old Man of Hoy, a 150m sea stack in the Orkney's as a warm up for a charity climb of the Eiger, in the Swiss Alps. He admits this latest adventure will be a challenge. The 62 year old adventurer now suffers from vertigo, a heart condition, and has lost all the fingers on one hand to frostbite. The Eiger climb, to be attempted next March, will raise funds for a cancer charity in memory of his first wife Ginny, who died in 2004. The UK Daily Record reports Information and pix of the Old Man of Hoy can be found here

A mate of mine bumped into him while he was training with some friends of ours in chamonix earlier in the summer. He's got some pretty big plans, should be worth watching!
