I'm thinking of going down to do the SE arete of Baboquivari pretty soon, but I hear its tricky to find the descent. Does anyone have any hints as to how to find it?

It might be difficult to find the ascent too. You might ask about this on Mountainproject. More of the locals watch that sight than this one.

Finding the ascent might be tricky too. You might want to post this on MountainProject. More of the Tucson area climbers lurk there.

Ignore the picture in the Falcon Guide, "Rock Climbing Arizona". The descent is off the west side, not the north. There were cairns the last time I was there, leading to the north from the summit. Follow the cairns, when they disappear head west. If you see a little bush with rap slings on it, you've probably gone too far north; I think it was only 10 or 20 yards south of there. I think there's a decent size tree you can rap off of.( I think this was the first of two raps). This description is probably good enough to be useless. It's been 3 or 4 years.

We just descended the route and that went fine with no problems. A few rappels and easy down climbing. Every thing that grows on that peak has pointy bits, watch where you put your hands  The route is easy to find, just follow Lion Ledge from the saddle and as soon as you round the corner to the SE Arete, go up. The start was fairly obvious.

I can attest that it can be tough to find the descent (and ascent for that matter--we went too high early on the approach and had to rap down into the next lower gully system in order to get to Lions Ledge). Our slowness and getting lost led to an unplanned bivy. We ended up finding the descent the next day but kind of in an ass backwards fashion. My only advice is that the descent is WNW (more West than the books would have you believe) from the summit. This should put you in the right direction. Aother option is to rap the climbing route if time permits...at least you know the way down. Despite our little night out it was a great experience and an awesome mountain. Enjoy.
