apart from those thing you mentioned, it looks ok. id just give it a bit more space at the top and crop a tiny bit on the right. play around in ps a bit and see what you can come up with. levels adjustment can do wonders for such pictures.

I think this photo would really have benefitted from a flash. It looks like a pretty low light scenario which usually means a pretty slow shutter speed and/or grainy ISO texture. Just a though, good luck!

In reply to: yes fuzzy, poor light, and out of focus...buy what do you think? Subject is ok, picture too. Maybe the litle part of grass is distracting. You mentioned your main problems, so try to reduce them. Poor light: adjust levels. Even autolevel will do the job properly on this shot. Out of focus: not that many. Impression is also due to the weird colors. So (for example) convert to b&w. And for this one, maybe to sepia or any duotone. Suggestion: (please pm me if you don't want your work to be altered - I'll remove it instantly) http://users.pandora.be/...os/76290adjusted.jpg

I'm sorry, but to me there's no drama. He's two inches from the ground, for god's sake! And it's not like he's hanging there upside down by his toenails either. All he's doing is flexing. And sorry - I'm not of the right persuasion to be turned on by that. GO

it's fuzzy, has poor light, and is out of focus. + What was mentioned about the lack of drama.

i like the photoshopped version better... also, i might have framed it to have just a tad more space on the top edge so that the climber's left hand wasn't quite so close to the border. i can't quite tell if popol tried this in his edit, but you might also try sharpening just a tad. thanks for posting a pic -- i aim to do so soon... i'm in between cameras right now.

Sure, the sharpening helped. But the fix to the levels seems a much bigger issue. Without that, it just looks dark and flat. GO

it's better. although i think i like sepia better; maybe if you also adjust your levels some it might improve it too. http://www.kenrockwell.com/.../ps.htm#underexposed forgive me if you're a PS expert and i'm telling you something totally basic -- most likely this is information that you already knew, but just in case...
