Hey I was wondering if anyone on this site could help me out. I once saw a picture that has stuck with me ever since but I can't remember where I saw it, who the subject was, or where it was.

The picture features a climber practicing crack climbing, jamming on a horizontal wooden structure. I think it is from the 70s. There may have been a VW van in the background. Probably Yosemite.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

David

Boy, you're going to have to provide more info than that, I think.

Shot from low, high, even with the climber?
General color?
Any particulars about why it's stuck with you, or any text along with it?

As it is...going to be hard to help.

i believe i know what photo youre talking about. i think it was in climbing (most likely) or r&i article about a yosemite dirtbag. cant remeber hes name though. ill see if i can dig it up somehow.

im also pretty sure the climber grew hes own veggies to eat (cauliflower, cabbage, brokoli, something) and was kicked out from the park numerous times but always snekaed back in (nothing suprising with that).

Not yosemite, nor a VW van, but there might be garden in there.

Sounds familiar- I believe it was a picture of Dale Bard on a crack machine in the Bishop Area. I am not sure where you can find it though.

its in climgin issue 223, august 2003 (so all i had to do after you provided the name is to search the climbing website for the issue number).

and the climber IS dale bard and the photo was taken at "dales camp" in the buttermilks area. the photo is on the page 56.

I think that photo has been posted over on supertopo a time or two. If you go over there and search you may find it or ask and you'll probably have it within a few days.

Found it in a mag and I don't have a scanner. I can't find a copy online. Sorry. I search for a bit longer.
