I'm thinking of heading up to Horse Flats to check out some local climbing on a upcoming weekend. Wanted to know if anyone around has been there recently and if there's a good guide book.

Can't make it but to answer your questions:

I was there a couple months ago. With the closure of Williamson and the increasing interest in bouldering...there were surprisingly a few people there.

The SoCal Bouldering Guide has many of the routes listed, but the newer 5 Star Bouldering Guide has more routes, etc. Both can be bought from your local REI.
