Hello Peeps, I just went on a mini-exploration of the possible climbing sites outside Riyadh. I ended up in the Hidden Valley which is about 60 kms southwest of the city. The place is mostly peppered with sandstone cliffs. Rockfall is what most people will encounter here since the place offers mostly brittle sites. A good survey will give you the right spots (like the one I found). For those interested in doing more surveys, please feel free to PM. I am looking at getting things rolling early next year. Cheers, AKB

Hey guys! I went bouldering again in the HIdden Valley / Wadi Nissah area last weekend. I discovered another outcrop of rocks that are good to play around in. Cheers, AKB

I can't help you in your exploration but it sounds interesting. I'd imagine most of the climbing potential in the Middle-east is still largely untapped. Perhaps posting some pictures would help you in getting others interested.

Choss, Yes I did share some pics and details. Please follow this link in the Routes section: http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=10492 Go to the Saudi Arabia pool, then Riyadh pool, then check out the Hidden Valley (Northern Escarpment) area. Are you located in Riyadh? Regards, AKB

In reply to: Yes I did share some pics and details. Please follow this link in the Routes section: http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=10492 How solid is that rock? It looks like it might be really loose. If it is solid it looks like it could make for some highly featured, fun routes.
