Hello, I'd like to take a trip to Bulo Point for Thanksgiving. I have the Falcon Guide to Rock Climbing Oregon with the routes and everything but it doesn't answer one question. Are there walk up trails to the anchors for those of us who don't have leading experience yet? Also, some of the good routes look tall in the book. Would I be okay with my 60m rope? The guidebook says this is a great place to climb and I'd like to check it out. This looks a lot closer for me to get to than going all the way out to Smith for Thanksgiving. I'd like to get out there sooner if someone wants a partner for a trip. I'm always eager to learn and could use some more outdoor experience.

Yes, some of the climbs there can be set up for TR from the top of the cliff. The approach trail will come to a fork, with the Left trail heading to the top of the cliffs, and the right trail heading down to the base. Some of the climbs in the upper portion of what is called the "Main Section" in the falcon guide are the easiest to TR (Bulo Dancing, etc.). You can probably wander around the top to find some of the anchors too, but I'm not sure. A 60M rope is long enough to TR any route there.

I'm heading up to Bulo point with a couple friends this weekend to camp/climb. This is also my first time to Bulo but am looking forward to seeing what it has to offer. If you'd like to join us for either the weekend or just to come up Saturday to climb you're more than welcome. If you're interested give me a call @ 503-358-8090
