Folks:

Having moved into the new house, the missus has given me permission to decorate one room (the office) as I see fit.

Yep, it's a mountaineering/climbing theme. Think "REALLY freaking old school".... 10 point 'pons, steel 'biners, triple braided hemp rope, etc.

Be on the lookout for the following, and holler if you find any for sale:

rusted crampons with leather straps
old pitons that have seen use
wooden shafted ice axe (mountaineering axe)
triple braided hemp rope
old versions/editions of mountaineering magazines
wooden snowshoes/skis
leather ski boots

...and so forth. You can always take a pic, shoot me a PM here, and I will take it from there. If it comes to it, (say, an antique shop won't ship or take phone orders,) I'll pay folks for being the middleman (middlewoman) as needed.

General rule: Nothing newer than, oh.... 1985 or so.

Oh, and if you are a photographer and have B/W or sephia pics of mountains, I want to talk to you. Yes, Karl, I'm heading to your site now to look around. ;)

Mahalo, y'all.

I have a pair of Salewa crampons and a Chouinard piolet both from the early - mid 70's. I have wooden snowshoes and skies and leather mountaineering boots. And a bunch of other stuff as well; e.g: Chouinard biners and nuts. BUT the price has to be right.

Let me know if you're interested.

Best, Kim

Glad to see more people taking an interest in collecting vintage gear. Ebay has been an excellent source for my collection.

I have a few items that I might be willing to part with. For sure about 3-4 pitons I did not add to my rack. I don't remember if they were all new but one did have a price tag still on it ($1.25?).

Pretty much the majority of the stuff I will not be using for display are:

few pitons
old, rare print of climbers in Austria?
Many old alps postcards
A collection of original Zermat photos - most of the town and surrounding area but gret pics!

Let me know what you are interested in and I can send pics of the items.

Reno -- I have a nice collection of old bong-bongs and large angles that I could part with.

I have two sets of hand-tied, webbing aiders and daisy chains from the 70's, a set of bamboo-ski poles from the late 60's, a single CMI ascender from the 70's, 1940 or 50's hand forged pins from switzerland and old rusty chouinard angles/Lost arrows, might even part with an ancient star drive hand drill for bolting, plus some pulled bolts/leeper hangers (would make a nice shadowbox display).

1.) a Harding Bat Tent
2.) A Forset Wall Hammock
3.) A Stubai Naga Parbat ice axe ca. early 70's - one of the first to have increased pick curve and composite handle.
4.) army surplus swivel piton ca. late 50's early 60's you can see it in the pics I have posted.
5.) an early Lowe pack ca early 70's
6.) Lowe insulated gaiters ca. 1974
7.) Gerry carabiner $$$$$
8.) an old pair of Galibier Super Guides (leather mtn boots)

Oh ya and pins 30 lbs or so you name it I probably have it from rurp to 4" bongs. One of the rurps for sure was placed on the third ascent of Jack of Diamonds in the early 70's.
