Hey all, hope your all balancing well. Who wants to have a little discussion? Lets forget about gear and rigging- nylon and steel. Lets get lost within the amazing sensation of Balance. Balance,it seems vaguely as clear as something that’s well not very clear at all, something like is it up or is it down? But lets have fun and try to allow these little-computer-symbols to decipher how it Feels. Like from your left foot to your right foot, left foot right.. Its some crazy blurriness between the right and left, complete order blends with total chaos, its walking... So I wonder, what is different about balancing on something skinny? With the left foot, right foot.. breathe...WAIT... it feels effortless. Up through the knees to the bottom of the ass cheek.. I feel it, Left foot, right foot, Wait...Lean...BREATHE... total chaos. Breathe...from the deltoids down the spin into the hips. Left-order, Right-chaos . LEAN... I FEEL it!! but What is it? is it hidden somewhere in mind’s crazy denseness? I feel it, but where is it!? So I would like to ask you- yes- YOU What is it you want when you walk on something? to get across(duh) But what else!!? How does YOUR muscles and mind react when balancing? Take the time and FEEL what changes within you when you start walking on things.. Make it simple, -H

Ha ha - I'll play!.. Balance is just intuition I think. Learning to trust your intuition is to become a better slackliner. When one first begins to slackline it is a process of learning that by raising one arm and lowering the other it is possible to 'recover' from a wobble. Once this process can be repeated both ways, sticking your bum out, windmilling your arms with the line going into a spontaneous surf you'll be well on your way to understanding what the human body is capable of. Once this has been repeated time and time again intuition will start to kick in and then you can relax on the line and stop wobbling it. I sometimes ponder the fact that at the moment you apply force to a line when you mount it, or land on it - that THE FORCE is infinite against the anchors because it is (nearly) perfectly perpendicular to to the force along the line. When you are on the line there will be a point when you are in PERFECT balance and any wobble will create an instant of INFINITE FORCE. This force will be quickly met by an exponential resistance that will tell your INTUITION to begin balancing the other way  With further repetition of this it is then possible to walk the line without too many wobbles it's then time to try walking with hands in pockets, lying down and standing up, eating a plate of food, juggling, playing the guitar et cetera. If you BELIEVE it is possible - IT IS! I'm amazed at Andy Lewis landing a backflip - that, if nothing else proves that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. FEEL THE FORCE

nice jon, as our intuition becomes clearer. Maybe it's counterintuitive-loosing the lame assumption that closed= safe and safe = comfortable., the more we open-up the more we become comfortable.. So I borrowed some of your lovely feet. If your feet are feeling sensitive about that, im sorry, i will happily erase them. left foot[img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/shawnL.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb][img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/dylanR.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb][img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/corbL.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb][img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/saraR.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb] right foot It seems easy to open my muscles.[img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/shadowR.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb] but opening my mind, now thats something more complex. Its open then its closed left foot right [img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/jstatic2.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb][img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/night2.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb] it seems we're IN [img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/In.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb] and then we're OUT[img:8b043e7dfb]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/gymslacker/wiping.jpg[/img:8b043e7dfb] :D Sooo, what'cha feel like when your In..? haha, something like that josh, I guess because I haven't been able to climb since May, Ive been spending too much time hanging around some Santa Monica broad-minded writers. and apparently their philosophical spirit-thumping-questions have taken their toll on me.. thanks for the concern, though
