Rumors abound, is it an exaggeration? Best for its grade? My buddy who climbs 5.13 even said it was as good a route as anywhere. Anyone climb it have an opinion? I'm going for sure to find out.

it's good but..........the best in the country? the cool part is running down in sandles and climbing back up to the car all light weight and stuff.

If you don't like the tree route, then you don't like climbing. Its definitely one of the best for the grade. Sort of like the grack but without rockfall danger or a descent and the approach takes less than 10 minutes. It was covered in ants when I last did it but that didn't stop me from doing a few laps on the route.

This was my very first outdoor route and got me into climbing. Loved it. Just loved it.

Saying that any route is "the best in the country" is a ridiculous and egotistical statement. Tree Route is pretty darn good for the grade. I've climbed 5.6 at the Gunks which were steeper and more exciting. The East Buttress of Mt. Whitney is also about 5.6 and more memorable, scenic and exposed than the Tree Route (although the approach and decent are way more involved). There are likely many others at crags I have never been to. Tree Route is a great climb; just leave it at that.

Did it. Pretty great. Not the greatest. I agree, it'd be impossible to label one route as the greatest. I think the Tollhouse Traverse was better. But that is just me.

yeah. The Tree Route is pretty much the best 5.6 route in the country. Almost everybody loves it, regardless of their ability. It's well protected, the crack on the main face is beautiful, there's a few moves of face climbing at the top, and the view over the Kern River Valley is superb.
