Yes this is another chalk question. I have read questions on the search about chalk, but I still have a question. :D I originally bought loose chalk. My climbing gym doesn't like people with loose chalk, so I bought a chalk ball. I noticed that the chalk in the ball was in small blocks and I broke it up as I used it. My question: Can I put loose chalk that I had already bought in a chalk ball, when the chalk that came with the ball runs out? Or would loose chalk come out of the ball to easily? (If so) Does that mean I need to buy chalk blocks? Thank ahead of the time guys!

It's well known that chalk balls explode when you refill them. Tell your friends. I know people who have left behind children.

I've often found that putting loose chalk into a chalk ball makes my hands fall off.

 The only reason gyms don't like loose chalk is because it spills. Use a cardboard tube to do the refilling and no one will know the difference.

You can make your own chalk ball by getting some old panyhose and tying in some chalk. It's easier if its not loose chalk, and then busting it up. P.S. I sent this in as a tip to some climbing mags about 15 years ago when they first started making them but it never got published. I guess Bison must buy alot of ads in mags.
 The only reason gyms don't like loose chalk is because it spills. Use a cardboard tube to do the refilling and no one will know the difference.
Actually, the bigger concern is the amount of dust and the ensuing damage to the ventilation system.
