Doing what it says, and I DON"T get the picture opted as "Profile Icon" as a choice.
Tried editing an existing pic, nothing. Tried resubmitting it twice, nothing shows in my "choose Icon" window that I have opted as a Profile Icon... I do have 4 pics of my kids there, but non of them have been chosen as "Profile Icons", and even if I check them nothing happens anyways.
I see others have avatars, so apparently either this is an intermitant problem, or I am just retarded.
BTW..."-Go back to your Profile in the forums and click on "Settings" in the blue local navigation bar." is wrong, as there is no "Settings" option I see within my profile... I have to hit "Edit" to see the "Choose Icon" button, and I have tried "Settings" also which has to do with my Forums Settings. You may want to rewrite that, or explain to me what I'm doing wrong if your instructions are correct, and I'm just retarded.

i havent really played around with this feature yet, but...
why cant we just submit a small random pos picture to be our avatar, like all other sites do?
edited to add... it worked for me just fine. i just edited the photo and checked the profile box.

OK... After no reply, I sluethed a bit, and found that many of my recently submitted pics have the default of "Profile Icon" checked, thus the pic I want to use won't show in the "Choose Icon" list of 4, since the one I want to use predates it.
Can the default be set to NOT be checked as "Profile Icon", as I will have to spend hours to uncheck each individual pic I have submitted (>250).

adam... where in the bloody hell is the "choose icon" box?
i have looked like 18 times, and i might be retarded, cause as far as i can tell, its not on my page. is it up at the top or on the side or something?
and i freaking went back and edited my pictures, all four of then, to make sure only the ones i wanted to had teh profile icon thing checked.
ugh.

Click "My Profile" at left, then click "edit" next to Personal Information on that page... You will see the "Choose Icon" button.
I just started to MANUALLY uncheck the defaulted "Profile Icons" in my pics, but it seems to be random.
Please... Can you guys (coders/admins) please make the default to NO, as I can't sit here and edit each pic just to see if it has been checked. I submitted a new pic, TWICE, but that didn't seem to work either.

There's gotta be some irony in the fact that I'm giving out instructions on how to do this, in a thread where I point out bad info on the "help" page, and I can't even get mine to work.

Even when I click "Choose Icon", and pic one of the ones (I don't want, but that are pics submitted as 'profile icons') nothing happens anyway.
The new site doesn't like me.

I just had a look and think about it a bit. Does anyone else only see a box with four pics to choose from? I wondered if there should be more, as it seems everything that was a "profile pic" on the old site has now been *checked* as icon photo. So I selected a photo to use as an icon.... then I couldn't figure out how to load it (ie. an "select this one" button inside the box. MAJOR BUG----> You can't scroll down inside the icon photos box to the end. I found that if I click inside the box, hold the button down and drag downwards, I can get to the end of the icon photos and low-and-behold.... there was the "select this one" button.

OK... Now the pic I submitted for an avatar has been approved, as I had to do this since nobody responded to the reply I made concerning all the randomely selected pic of mine that were set to profile icon above.
I clicked My profile, Edit, Choose Icon, and blacked in the little dot on the pic I want, but it didn't really do anything... I still clicked Make Profile Changes, and nothing...
Honestly... It appears as if my profile does not have Avatar enabled in the Admin Panel, as the text box for it is grayed out, where as all the others that will allow text or URL's is white.
Help please... I see it works for everybody else, so either I'm retarded or there is an intermitant bug. Unless I get a reply, even if its just a suggestion for me to do, then I am in limbo here. Not like I'm gonna die, but its still a bug none the less.
A reply would be considerate.

I also only have four choices for avatars. But the select box did eventually come up. It did take a few attempts though.

I have a window with 4 choices, with little blank circles under each picture. No "Select Box" is eventually coming up... What exactly are you reffering to ??? I have made more than a few attempts by a factor of 10.

OK, try this.... this is how I found out that you "should" be able to scroll down inside that box of icon pics.
Click inside the box of four pics, anywhere and, while holding the mouse button down, drag the cursor downwards. It should highlight everything, but it'll scroll down till you can see the "choose this one" button.

No you need to scroll down while holding the mouse button down, like you're highlighting all the pics inside the box.
It's definately a bug.

Thanx to the 'users' for helping me.
I'll leave the title changed in order for one of the staff to at least see that they need to ammend the directions on the "help" page for this, as there may be a couple more retarded people like me.

Phewww! Good job!
They also need to fix the ability to scroll down through the 10 photos to chose from.
It also seems that the profile pic is the "most recently submitted" icon pic.
