I seem to have a problem that I can't log in as me (I'm user "g"). Though this isn't totally consistent, as I did stumble upon my routes, but things like my profile say I have an invalid name. I've also logged in twice with my own user name and password, but it logged me onto first emall and now as augie? Anyone know what is going on?

you'd think this would get an immediate "we're working on it" response. Apparently the owners/programmers are so swampped trying to get people to be able to embed photos that they can't respond to a serious security bug.

It'll get serious if the next time G logs in he gets creds for ddt or one of the mods. Then there will be an immediate response.

Nope, just elmayimbe this time. I keep waiting to be reno or something, and starting totally liberal threads, quoting the New York Times, saying that the economy has nothing to do with the American people's pocket books, or flaming conservatives!

Or maybe jim_davis, and saying that I would never trust a belay loop! Laugh

Yea... Keep logging out and in till you become 'sangiro', then you'll have the keys to fix it, and you can even post an appology in the threads where he jumped a little hard on people.Tongue

Seriously... Create another thread in this forum entitled, "SERIOUS SECURITY/LOG-ON ISSUE"... That will get immediate attention.

g, I have to admit, this is pretty funny. If I were a coder I'd be really annoyed at the bug, but at the same time, I'd definitely chuckle at the humor.

The only thing I can possibly think is freaking out ol' HAL9000 here is that you have a weird username (only one letter) and it doesn't know what to make of it.

Oh, and if you score and log in as me, make it special!! Laugh

I've only gotten one guy that I've ever even seen post before, and that was mandrake. I don't know him, and he has been somewhat active, so I figured I'd leave him alone.

Hey Greg,

I'm looking into this to see if I can figure out where your username migration got whacked. I have not heard any similar issues from anyone so for now I'm going to try and resolve your individual case for you and will do a check afterwards for more possible issues. Sorry for the wait, trying to find time between actually doing the work, and monitoring the forums. Smile

Ok here's an update:

While your username was imporeted corretly the forum software we're using only accpets usernames between 3 and 30 chars in length. This causes the forum to reject your username and spew all kinds of strange behaviour. Of the 54,000 usernames imported there we have 19 that are impacted by this issue, almost all of them single character usernames.

Give us a little time to open up the hood in the forums and see if there are issues with us forcing through a single char username. We'll get you back online ASAP. Smile

I looks like you found a fix. I thank you for your efforts Sangiro! Maybe this weekend, if I have time between my hopes of Notre Dame making it to the National Championship game, and climbing, I'll do some work on the routes database for Yosemite and do my part to help out the site. Things like the Nutcracker need some work:

In reply to:
5 pitches, crowded due to its overrated reputation; pretty much a chosspile; climb is runout and dangerous. ANOTHER OPINION: Take the left variation start. Nice layback. It is not runout, the crux isn't that hard, you can get pro in by your feet after the crux, and if it is crowded, start early on Sunday morning, and you will score booty from people bailing the night before. It is a fun route and I got to share belays with a really hot chick while my partner had to share belays with her boyfriend. The FINAL opinion: pay attention on the mantle. Some guy who thinks it's "well protected" breaks an ankle here annually. Johnny Woodward's favorite freesolo in the park.
Was that some sort of trip report?

Glad to be back, and I do apologize if I used anyone's name in posting that actually still visits the site! Unsure

I guess I was a little outta line here Willem... My bad.

You've been pretty busy trying to get the site right.

Don't know if this issue is fixed with all user IDs that are less than the required field, as I'm sure there are many more of them. Something to consider if you haven't already.
