I've heard there are some good crags down in that area.....you'd definately have the New River George for weekend trips...Red Rock, KY three hour beyond that...

You can try Cooper's Rock WV, though it is mostly trad, also some good bouldering there.

On plastic there's Va Beach Rock Gym... for the real rock your going to have to drive ~3-4 hours. Your best bets are Old Rag, Raven's Roost, the multiple small areas around Harrisonburg and Seneca. Honnestly the distance will limit your climbing to 3 times a month if your serious about it. The only good news is that its not too hard to find partners around here. Goodluck.

Hmmm, closest may be Great Falls NP in NoVa. Best climbing will be at Old Rag in Shenandoah NP, a bit south of the village of Sperryville - which will be a 3 hour drive at least from NN. Then there's the hike up...

You didn't really think there would be any good climbing very near (say, 1.5 hour drive) the actual Atlantic coastline, did you? Other than Acadia NP in Maine, & maybe the Gunks...
