I'm new to Durham. Can anyone tell me if it is worth a trip to cary to climb on the fake rocks? Can anyone tell me where the park is?

If you are talking about N. Cary state park... yes, it is rarely populated, and there is a good range of routes, especially since almost none are ever marked. The best thing to do is take some sidewalk chalk and a buddy and challenge each other across the boulders. They are not tall, but they are plenty challenging if you make them. There are holds of all sizes, many positive, many crimpy, and a few sharma style one finger pockets. You might want to bring a lot of chalk and possibly a piece of tape or two, these concrete monsters have some sharp edges. From Durham, take 40 towards State, get off at harrison ave., take it to cary parkway, and about a mile down cary parkway is norwell. when you turn right onto norwell, it is literally two seconds until parking. the boulders are behind the courts and shelters.
