I'm just moving to Florence, AL and am searching out bouldering in North/Northeast Alabama.

I've been hiking on the Bee Branch trail this time last year. I wasn't really into climbing then, but I do remember seeing a lot of boulders.

I'm going hiking down there pretty soon, so I'm definitely gonna check it out.

Welcome to florence!

There is a local bouldering spt across the river, it is listed in the routes database as colbert hieghts. Also, theres rock everywhere....due to the undevolped nature of it all....you can just go exploring and find some OK stuff.

Are u into roping up?
There is Red Rocks, La Grange, and The devils backbone...i dont thing La grange or the backbone are in the routes database. Red rocks is in the database....and its hunting season....so if you dont want to get shot....i suggest you dont go there anytime soon.

I am sure there is some more that I cannot think of right now....If you ever want to hook up and climb...let me know! Just pm me

Peace....

I realize this thread's six years old but are any of you guys still active? I'm a native of Muscle Shoals. tell me more about Devil's Backbone! I've been to the other areas but not familiar with this one.

There's a lot of rock around for sure, I've even climbed ice there a few times.

Please take a very light handed approach to cleaning and the use of chalk. This area is very unique, and it has a large base of users (hikers, backpackers, photographers, paddlers) who go there to enjoy and photograph the area, including the rocks and the moss/lichen that grows on them.

Abuse is unwarranted, and could even lead to access problems for climbers.
