I have not been successful with any of the above. When I try to add an area or a route, I get a message saying I'll get an e-mail when it's "verified" and then that's the last I hear about it. Does it think I'm lying or something? I haven't been able to record ascents on routes that are already in the database either. What is the "ascent header" box?

all new additions to the routes database must be verified by the area manager. yes, i think its unneccesary too. ascent header is the textbox under the ascent date. it must not be empty, but you can just leave the default 'ascent note' text.

Some states don't have area managers yet, so that's probably the reason for the delay. Look at the bottom of the page where you're adding stuff; you'll see a listing of Editors. If the only name listed is cliffhanger9 (he is the overall manager for North America), then the state doesn't have an AM yet. Send cliffhanger a PM but try to be patient, he's probably way overloaded. I'm not sure what the problem is with you adding ascents. Maybe DDT will chime in here. JL

If I'm correct, the Ascent Header is the name you want to give to your ascent record. Like "a pain in the ass" or anything to descrive shortly your ascent.

Thanks, everyone for your help. The ascents are going in just fine now and since everyone else seems to put in Ascent Note on that header thing, that's what I've been doing, but now that I know what it's for I may get more creative. Even a couple of the routes I've entered have shown up, so I guess I've learned the drill.

That was me again, obviously. I'm not used to having to log in every time I post here after having disconnected from the last time. Nor am I used to being able to post if I'm not logged in.

well, when you want to add a new ascent, you need to put in an anscent header. kinda like a title. but if you edit an old ascent, the header is already entered.
