hey all i am just wondering if someone can tell me if there are some good areas for ice and mixed climbing in the wistler / squamish / vancouver / vancouver island area? any help would be appreciated. Traveler Taj Terpening www.travelerphotography.com

i think the closet ice climbing from southwestern BC is around Lillooet, 4 hrs, give or take from Vancouver.

Not sure if you're still interested but there is ice closer to vancover. In whistler itself for example

there is plenty of ice in southwest b.c. you just have to wait for the artic outflow and run for it

http://westcoastice.com/ is a kind of blog of where people have been climbing ice. There's a guidebook for around here and Washington as well. The closest ice climbing to Vancouver itself is on the North Shore mountains but it rarely comes in. Friends recently climbed Seawash Rock on the seawall in Stanley Park. Squamish sometimes comes in. Hope is a little more consistent. Marble Canyon and the Lillooet area are where people typically go but it's about a 6 hour drive.
