Is this a trick to see which members of the RC.com community are more prone to mutiny?

Me too. But, wow, I'm surprised again by these results.

Yeah. This may not be the same reason you're surprised, but: I'm surprised to see all the "very favorables." Compared to the results of Jay's other polls, I find that a tad suspect.

Yeah, but when I post a poll asking for direct input on an issue, get 123 views, 6 replies, and 13 votes, I tend to lose faith in ALL polls.

Yes, the positives outweigh the negatives, but not by a lot. And as I write this, in this poll, you have 15 each for either approval, or not, plus 8 neutrals.
If they were doing their jobs effectively the disapproval ratings would not be so relatively high. 39% pro is not good when coupled with 39% con. And frankly, in questions like these, neutral isn't exactly good either.
Oh, and BTW, in the Climbsomething and Coldclimb should be offerred their jobs back as forum moderators poll (which I might add I had absolutely no part in creating), out of 46 votes, 34 people agree or agree strongly, while 10 disagree or disagree strongly; 2 are neutral. I'll do some journalist math for you: 74% want the owners to reconsider their blunder. 74% think they done fucked up.
At least one poll returns overwhelming numbers that you can bet will be ignored like a fat girl at a dance.

I honestly don't care who owns the site.
I don't want anyone on this site EVER editing something I wrote without my explicit permission.
I'd like the ability to delete myself and all my posts at the press of a button too. Not that I have immediate intentions of doing so, on the contrary.
He who can destroy a thing controls that thing. I wish to control my own destiny as far as this site is concerned.
If site rules prohibit this then this site does not respect user data.

I'm not supprised at all... The site's faster, and doesn't break.
Remember, the vast bulk of users (by numbers) never added pictures, routes, or any other content to really have a concern about some of the features other than site speed.
But the real kicker... Even a 'guest' can vote in these polls, as in they don't need to be logged in, so I would hazard a guess that a couple/few of the dizzy.com crowd are here voting as well. So I wouldn't put too much faith in these polls.
Note-I logged out, and voted again in this poll, and the vote count went from 39 to 40 when I hit "vote".

Good catch Adam. Non-logged-in users are only supposed to have read access to the forum. Till we fix this I've completely turned off access to this specific forum for guests.

I just got through reading through an hour of drivel about the site being horrible etc. Seems like you guys have a TON of work to do for the 2 of ya. much more than the team of 13 people I have working under me for a much bigger national web site.
Do you really think that you can run this with 2 active voices responding to all this?
To be honest I don't care! look at my last log in etc I log in maybe once a week now to check access situations etc. (which really don't even seem to be posting like they used to)
I was a little presumptuous in performing the test but did anyway(hell anyone can on ya), ran a T3 on your site for 4 hours with a packet sniffer and the results were unreal.
disclaimer - they know I ran a test on their website
The IP I'm posting this on is not the IP I tested it on
You guys need to get real on what your trying to do here. Are you trying to make money buying the userbase here? Then you better well abide by what they are saying.
Are you just taking over a dieing website? Then you better well abide by what the users are saying.
In either case I've been sitting back looking at what your doing and for a 2 man team your doing pretty much nothing. I did some coding for Tim in my offtime for the old site (30 minutes a week fixing shit) and from what I can tell so far your not doing much.
I'm downloading the entire site on a localized server and looking at main code on a daily basis, what are you doing?

It is a matter of respect.
Ciao DMT
I won't speak for the current management, but when I worked here, I viewed the ability to delete all your posts at once as the ultimate lack of respect for everybody else who uses the site. That's why I always argued so actively against the nuke option in every case except to delete serial spammers. I agree, you should have total control over what you write here (with the exception of quotes), but I don't think it should be subject to whims.
Dingus, the work that I did for the site -- literally thousands and thousands of words and probably around 100 photos -- is "work for hire." That means I don't own the copyrights to it; the site does. And even I have very little fear that anyone will edit what I wrote without asking me first or otherwise misuse it. I'm trying to understand why you fear it so much. Have you ever seen a site official edit your work without permission?
