welcome to the community. my family used to live in cleavland but that was before i got into climbing. I would sugest going to the gym and asking if the offer outdoor classes or what not. also find some better climbers, make friends, go on trips. welcome mate

sweet...thats what ohio needs are some climbers...we are a small minority in ohio...first off thats sweet that you are syked about climbing. all winter you should be hitting up the gym, spending as much time as you can there...cleveland rock gym is a nice place to start climbing, i know that cuz its what got me serious about the sport...make as many friends in the climbing community as possible...CRG has outdoor classes in the summer but i personally dont like those classes..if you make enough friends, someone out there will take you climbing. as for places around here there really arnt many...you can drive down here(im from youngstown) to lisbon or out to PA and go to mcconals mills...there both ok places to start climbing...but i would start to plan some trips to new river gorge (in fayetteville wv)or red river gorge(in slade ky)...there nice places to see all different kinds of climbing. well man i wish you the best, dont be a stranger if you have any other ?'s just private message me and ill be happy to help...stay syked and work hard but most of all have fun

There are couple places near Cleveland that I'm aware of: Hinckley metroparks-- 45 min, toproping and bouldering Lisbon quarry -1.5 hrs, sport and very few easy trad (And of course top-roping, assuming you get someone lese to lead for you ) Elyria--bouldering Brecksville reservation-- bouldering (I personally haven't been to Elyria or Brecksville, but I hope to go someday soon) Between April and October, if we aren't at the NRG or RRG, we are at one of the above places pretty much every weekend. It's a long way till spring. You'll get to know everyone at the gym by then, learn to belay, and stuff... and if you ever want to come along when we go outside, you're welcome.
