I can't read any of the videos. Quicktime is apparently automatically selected by my computer, and I suppose this might a reason for this problem. Is there a better default video player? How to select a video player by default? And maybe a short tutorial could be added to explain the basis of video displaying? Or am I that dumb???

Download the VLC media player and use it to open the videos. It sounds like you are missing a codec like DivX or something else that the creator used. VLC will decode about anything.

if you just install it with default settings then when you find a video you want to download and watch. just click on it, it will ask you if you want to "save" or "open" the file, if you just want to watch it and not keep it, click on "open". then the player will boot up after the file is loaded then you just click play.

no more successful... I downloaded divx as well, but it doesn't work better... SO I can read the .mpg/.mpeg, the .avi, the . wmv (v7) but not the .wmv (v9), I can't read the .mov, and so on. Sometimes I just have the blue Q of Quicktime and nothing more ; sometimes just the toolbar ; sometimes the toolbat + a black window and the sound ; sometimes everything is working well... When trying to open the videos under Windows Media Player, I get the error ID Erreur = 0xC00D1199, ID Condition = 0x00000000

All i get is the Quicktime Logo and then blank on both PC and Mac for such a large use of bandwidth you'd think it would work better

My computer updated windows media player to version 10 so I can now read almost all videos, but some of them open automatically with QuickTime and then I can read only 1/3 of these ones.
