Moutainn Gear recently had Superfly Draws on sale for $53. That's another way to get cheap Fly biners even if you don't want the dogbone part of it. That would be $5.30/biner. Unfortunately I think they're gone but there may be other draw deals out there that allows one to get cheap biners.

If you are ordering online, one of the easiest ways to get a good deal is to do a Google search for coupon codes for the store where you are shopping. If you are buying from REI, do a search for "REI coupon codes". There are entire web sites devoted to keeping track of coupon codes. You can typically find free shipping and 10%-, 15%-, or even 20%-off codes for pretty much any on-line retailer. A quick search on REI brings back a 10%-off code (NWSRB) and a 15%-off any-one-item code (NGMJN6). I've literally saved hundreds of dollars doing this. PB

It seems that every once in awhile I come across a 20% off one item REI coupon... Does anyone know when/where those show up? I seem to think I saw one when my dividend came back last year, but are they ever around other times? Thanks!

i think there should be a no SAC rule. I mean by the time most people see this thread the item has changed.. and everyone else probably knows about it already.

I dont agree... i've found two items on SAC via rc.com thanks to others. The way I see it it costs me and you nothing to have somebody give a tip and if your too late in seeing the hot deals thread while it is on the front page then better luck next time. However on the other hand I don't feel sorry for others that complain for having to look past a couple extra posts to find a new REI code that expires every week. We always could say no more posting online coupons and leave it up to google searches, but if we did that what would the point of the hot deals thread be anyways... see what i'm saying?

re: steepandcheap.com - if a deal has been rotated out, then the item is either sold out, or can be found on backcountryoutlet.com for a higher price (since backcountry.com owns both these sites). You can go to sacattack.com, click any of the 'buy it at a discount' links and get a better price than appears in backcountryoutlet.com once the item is added to your shopping cart. It won't be as low as steepandcheap.com but oh well.

EMS has their private label version of a camelback (Chute model) with nalgene insert for $31.00. It is a small pack with gear loops and a couple of pockets for cliff bars, guide book etc. It seems like a decent hydration pack for long, multi pitch climbs.
