We were up at Notchtop on Saturday (02/18). Grace Falls is looking pretty nice, Hot Doggie isn't touching down, New Beginnings is touching but thiiin, the Guide's Wall is pretty wide, and the North Face had quite a bit of snow on it.

time to sharpen up the tools and crampons. Someone I know is checking out Lincoln this weekend and I will post the report. My main ice partner moved out of state so I'm interested in meeting new partners for waterfall/alpine ice. My experience is mostly waterfall. Last year I was climbing at Lincoln by Halloween so hopefull I will be again this year. ~Sung

My source went up this past weekend and said the same thing. It is climbable but probably better in a week or two.

Got out to Lincoln last Saturday and will probably hit it this Sunday. Anyone availlable during to the week to avoid the crowds? Mondays and Fridays are probably best for me.

Anyone going to be around Silverton this weekend and want to climb some ice or ski something? I am committed Friday and possibly Sunday but am free on Turkey Day and Saturday. I'm coming from Denver so would be willing to climb or ski whatever between here and there on Wed and / or Thurs. Or on the way home next week. Have WFR and Avy certs and largely am capable of separating my alcoholism from my climbing.

I was in T-ride/Ouray this last weekend. Ribbon is very fat and fun, BBB looked good but we didn't get on it. Sapphire Bullets of Pure Ice is in..very little rock pro needed, ~5+. Ames was in a bit ago, not sure with the warmer weather. if I wasn't on the other side of the mountains I'd hit you up on your offer.

look for routes in the shade around here. stairway is in, but its getting a ton of sun and parts of it look barely attached to the rock. not saying don't do it, but either get it done real early in the day, or find other routes that get no sun. there's plenty to choose from right now.

San Juans ice update from a lazy and fat climber Stairway is great fun but hollow in spots. Be careful you don't punch through, particularly on the last pitch (skip it and walk off.) The fourth pitch has cauliflowered up really nice and steep. I would stay off Whorehouse until after the upcoming cold snap. People are climbing it but it is wet and hollow in spots - we hiked up but gave it a miss. First and Second Gully are nice. Goldrush is in but thin. Ribbon is fat and busy. There were two parties on Birdbrain this afternoon, so there is lots going on. The upcoming cold snap and snow should change things around a bit.

Looking for a partner to climb ice, mixed, & mountaineering on Thursdays and/or Fridays in Colorado. For the start of the season I can climb at WI4 but with a couple days out I should ready for most stuff. Long approaches/days are fine with me. Safety oriented and easy going attitude. Send me an email if your interested, Kurt kurt_d_johnson@yahoo.com

Does anyone know of some good spots to camp in Ouray. I'm dragging the tent out. I'm heading to the Ouray Fest this year. I was there for the opening weekend and we were able to get a nice cabin to stay at. There is no way I'm going to find anything now though. Everything is booked for the fest.

I live in the Colorado Springs area (Divide). I have had the worst time this season being able to get out. I usually get out once a weekend and a few weekend trips. I lead up to WI5 and M7. I mostly go to Vail, Ouray, and Lincholn. I prefer an experienced partner, but I have extra tools, crampons, harnesses, boots (Koflach 8.5), and some size med clothes for beginers. I FINALLY climbed ice for the first time EVER!! Holy shit I say, why did i wait 27 years to start?!?!? I had a FANTASTIC time in Ouray this year at the Fest, hung out with some ultra cool peeps (anykineclimb, reno, sharpie, kissinbiners, taino, mr8615....many more), managed to actually climb a bit without crapping in my trousers, and I still have money in my bank accounts!! I live in the Boulder/Denver area and would LOVE to climb with people. Obviously being newer to this sweeta$$ sport, I would prefer to climb with folks who have more experience than I, which of course is just about everybody!! Let me know...schedule is relatively flexible and there will always be some sort of food/beer payment just for taking me out and putting up with my whiny, flailing, happy butt oh yeah, i will gladly provide transportation as well. Cheers!!

I'm trying to figure out something to do this Saturday (1/20) (Vail, Lincoln, or?) My usual rock/ice partner has been quite busy lately. I have rope, screws and am open to partner with experienced climbers or beginners (as long as you can provide your own boots and crampons.) I haven't had that much mileage on ice and can be talked into leading up to WI4 and follow whatever.
