I'm heading to Tahoe for New Years, and was planning to pack snow shoes and a snowboard. But I just heard there's no snow. Should I pack my trad gear or a crash pad instead? Locals - is anybody still climbing in the area? Any beta would be much appreciated...

There's snow. You can still climb at the Pie Shop though. Some people climbing at Donner recently too. It's just really cold. Prime conditions at Sugarloaf if you don't mind heading down the hill a bit. Should be good climbing weather coming up. You can get some showshoeing or boarding in too if you want. There's plenty of snow for that too. Climbing conditions exist year round around Tahoe dontcha know. As long as the weather cooperates eh.

Hi, I'll be headed up to Tahoe MLK weekend and really wanted to get some climbing in. I haven't been around the area too much so I don't know where's a good place to find some climbs amongst all the snow. Any advice would be much appreciated! -B
