i was climbing at chickies this morning...it was like the gunks...full of climbers, thank gawd my partner got there early and was toproping solution area...but there was no more room in the pull off lot..and the trucks and suvs were parked all the way to the bridge. so i pulled up by the pull off and parked there beside the last two vehicles...the last one could back out and the one in front of that car could get in front of me to exit. came out from climbing and had a $15 parking ticket!!!!!!!!!!! the reason was for blocking cars..WTF???? i was NOT blocking ANYONE's vehicle....and i'm pissed!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna fight this ticket for principle!! [ This Message was edited by: climbinganne on 2002-09-14 14:49 ]

Glad I did not go there. I hate parking tickets. I have not been there when there where when you have had to wait to climb. Maybe it was a bikers car. Todd

Jeeze I did not catch that at all in my proof reading, but it is so good I am not going to change it. It went pretty well. They want me. The Wilkes Gym is pretty nice, well the bouldering looks cool. They dont have tons of holds though. About the scholarship, I am getting at least $11000 a year and I may get $13500 a year. Todd

Hi Huney, Bummer about the ticket! Statisticaly, most "fought" tickets are thrown out,or overturned,or,turned into warnings. Fight the power!!!! Climb Happy Mitch If not,I can recomend legal representation.

"Statisticaly, most "fought" tickets are thrown out,or overturned,or,turned into warnings" Uh, not really. In 13+ years, I have never lost a case. But then, I haven't written any parking tickets either. I personally think most parking tickets are bullcrap revenue generators for local municipalities. Heck, I have even gotten 3 in the past few years. Fought them all, only won one of them. I am only batting .333.

Anne~ I think the reason that you got the ticket is that you were parked in front of that gate with the cable in front of it that says no parking. That is the entrance for the municipal water buildings that are there. One time someone with the municipality bitched at my dad after he had parked in front of it when there were no other spaces. ~Chris

hahahahahaha....funny one jeff.... and ahhhhh...no chris...i was not parked in front of the gate, as a matter of fact there were 3 cars there facing the gate...i on the other hand was on the opposite side of the pull in...up towards the bridge on the side of the road...I WASN'T BLOCKING ANYONE!!! the truck was gonna back out regardless the suv was gonna have to cut and go over the grass due to the car in front of him...he would have taken the same cut with or without me there...are you picturing where i was... i could see a ticket for parking on the shoulder...but they said it was for blocking other vehicles...i wanna know how they got out if i blocked them in??? i had a camera with me but the truck and suv were already gone...so if i did in fact block them in did that truck and suv FLY over my truck??? i doubt it [ This Message was edited by: climbinganne on 2002-09-14 21:36 ]

"make buds w/a cop and ask him to take care of it for you It has woked for me" Doesn't work out here in CA, officers have credibility here.

Hey, I'm really sorry you got stuck with a ticket but it could have been worse. I realize you weren't on private property but I've known land owners to discourage climbers by breaking windshields and/or slashing tires. It really sucks for those guys who didn't realize they were trespassing.
