Why is access endangered? I understand this is private property, but from my understanding the property owners tolerate climbers. Of course you absolutely should not be here when hunting is going on, which during hunting season is all days but Sunday, but just about everybody who knows about this spot is still frequenting it regularly on Sundays. What's up???

Last I'd heard was that some kids had gone out into the area and played paintball, and splattered all over the rocks. The owners got pissed, and began to give tickets out to whoever was busted out there. This is what someone told me though, so I'm not sure how reliable that information is. I had two friends who went out there this week, however, who said there were no posted "no trespassing signs" and that no one bothered them while they were out there. Not sure if this helps you at all, because both of those things aren't exactly conclusive in terms of access. Just hopes that bit of information helps you out.

Anyone who's interested in the current status of Knightdale Boulders should check on the Carolina Climbers Coalition (CCC) message board. The latest post on the subject indicated police are giving tickets or warnings to climbers who trespass. As a general rule, sneaking in to an off-limits climbing area is a really good way to keep it shut down forever. For the sake of future access, work with organizations like the CCC instead. They've already succeeded in getting Asheboro Boulders re-opened, not to mention purchasing Laurel Knob and opening it to the public for legal climbing. Post your questions about Knightdale on the CCC board: http://carolinaclimbers.org/...nts/phpBB2/index.php John Liles Area Manager, NC
