Hey, I'd like to know if it's possible to climb in EPC in the beginning of August? Does it really get hot? uncomfortably hot?

Thank you!

If you had more info in your profile someone could tell you.

If you are used to hot weather, you will be OK chasing the shade.

If you come from far north, maybe you are not. It really depends what you are willing to acclimatise to, and how long do you want to be down there.

Post your background and we can help.

Well I wouldn't say i'm used to hot weather, but i've already climbed in hot weather in France mostly (ie verdon gorge around 30 degrees Celcius).
How hot does it get in EPC in he beginning of august? does it limit the climbing possibilities?

if you don't mind sunburns you'd be fine.

yes it gets hot, over 100 F at some times.

you can chase the shade or you can climb in the sun,

its bad, but you get used to it if you want to climb

On the whole the weather here is not extreme in the summer. The way the walls are oriented you can climb comfortably in the shade for most of the day except maybe from about 1-3 pm when you will want to hang by the swimming pool and take a siesta before the afternoon-evening climbing. Summers here are GREAT!!!

We went last august and it was great! The valley wind is a relief to the sun; however, don't forget sunscreen! 11 pitches in the sun, you get toasted without it...

I made it for 6 days in Aug 2006. I am from Louisville, KY . The temperatures and sun did not bother me AT ALL. My idea of desert sunscreen is light colored cotton / silk (SPF 100), but I DID do 12 pitches (Estrellitas) without a shirt AND without sunburn! The low humidity makes 40C temperatures seem mild, but in direct sunlight you will MELT ! EPC Limestone + sweat = harness stains
