Looking for a partner or two for a trip to the Adirondacks this weekend. Hope to hit the Trap Dyke up Mt. Colden on Saturday, but might be up for some other ice climbs/peaks. If I find a partner, I'll be coming from Philly, so happy to carpool from PA, NJ, NY...

Yeah, John, with all the new snowfall, the dyke isn't looking too inviting... maybe in a couple of weeks.

I am looking at heading up the trap dyke this Friday or Saturday. Did you make your journey and if so how were the conditions?

oh, man, that's funny, Mr. Ballon-knot. In case you didn't notice that post was from 2/17/2007, not 2008. And no I didn't make it up last YEAR (and wisely decided not to because the snowfall that weekend caused the big avalanche in the dike last year), but, coincidentally, expect it to hit it this Friday or Saturday as well. Let's both hope all the heavy snow stays well to the South and that the recent thaw wasn't too bad. It's a route I've wanted to do for awhile, so I'm pretty excited. Look for us, maybe we'll see you up there. Party of two, camping up there somewhere near Avalanche or Colden Lakes Friday night either before or after the route. Good luck. Name is Doug, BTW.
