Did you know that fewer than 1 in 100 climbers is a member of the access fund? According to the Access Fund there are, "over 1.6 million climbers nationwide in all forms of climbing - rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, and bouldering - the Access Fund is the largest US climbing organization with over 15,000 members and affiliates."

That's pathetic. Come on people. I think the base donation is about $45?

DO IT, I signed up for the $7 a month plan, they just take $7 bucks from my rei credit card once a month, I don't even notice it. I still got a really nice looking organic t-shirt. Also a huge bonus is you can get a 3 year sub to alpinist for only $46, which is normally $120. Find a better deal.

Also look at what the access fund has done in the past, castle rocks idaho, and Laural Nob NC was purchased with help from the Access Fund, also they have helped keep access to indian creek, Hueco Tanks, Yosemite (camp 4), and a ton of other places.

I know it is hard to put your money into something like this, but just consider what might happen if organizations like the access fund were not around to help.

Do it! I ponied up $50 and scored a sweet t-shirt. Who knows when the AF might step in and help sort some access issues in the area?

I agree bandycoot- that is kind of pathetic!

I'm in- renewed my membership the other day. I did the $7 a month thing due because tthat way I could afford to give them more $$$ then I could if I just did one lump sum now.

I recently signed up for the $10.00 month gig.

As I've become more dedicated to climbing, I've usually just supported local organizations here in North Carolina.

This changed a fair bit when I found out the Access Fund was involved helping sort out and secure access to an obscure crag in Western MA that I used to frequent when I lived there. Though I hardly climbed then, I am filled with gratitude for all parties that helped secure access at that little gem, even if I may never be in that neck of the woods again.

Dont be shy to join because its a National Organization. Its to easy to think you'll never see and experience the benefit of your donations as they're spent elsewhere, but it will come around again..

Me too!! And the t-shirt is SWEET!!! Now I need to go get a new stainless steel or titanium water bottle to put my member sticker on :) I'm tired of drinking out of plastic.

I'm sad now! My new sticker hit the cement on my new water bottle and it's all scratched up now! :( And the bottle is dented and scratched to hell too.

I donated 100 bucks which got me and my fiance some sweet ass t-shirts that are super comfortable. They also threw in a supscription to Urban Climber.

But donating isn't all about getting free stuff. It's about giving to a great cause that only benefits us as a climbing community. So give as much as you can, even if it's just a small denomination. Every little bit helps. Plus if youn give bigger donations they are tax deductable.

So the hell with feeding kids in third world countriesWink. Let's feed our need to rebolt areas, maintenance trails and purchase land to climb on.
