Tiff and I toughed it out last year in the pouring rain. It was nice meeting a few new people. Hopefully we will have sun this time. Josh

Josh - It rains in June! Just like it did on our wedding day... and our first anniversary... and our second anniversary. Then again, June 19 falls on a Tuesday this year, so any other day in June should be nice and dry.

Rumney Ruckus II? Sounds more like your average, crowded weekend at Rumney than a special event.

It would be sooo nice if the weather cooperates this year. I've been trying to go for the last two years with no luck. Maybe its time to buy a solid 3 season tent! Whatever weekend - chances are I'm going to be stuck going to a stupid bachelorette party for Bridezilla whatever weekend people decide on.

That's the problem with New England. You can never plan on a dry day, it changes too damn fast. This is the fourth time I've tried and the first three were certainly a wash-out. The first was in October and only one group showed up. The second was again in October, it was cold and it rained like hell. (The first two were not called Rumney Ruckus.) The third was last June and it rained like hell again, but warmer. It's a shot in the dark no matter what day we set. This is just a gathering where people get together and climb. There will be no comps, gear tables, or anything else that you will find at the larger gatherings. It's just a nice time to enjoy and make new friends. Hopefully live music and a bonfire/large campfire. Plenty of space to camp.

Well... maybe we could plan it on the same dates as last year, that way I could unload some of the hundreds of t-shirts I had made up that didn't get sold? lol (I knew I shouldn't have put the dates on those shirts last year). I'm up for any weekend in June or July.

I get out so rarely that my opinion is worthless but I would love to come if my schedule lines up. Only BAD weekend for me would be June 8-10. End of the month is better

Alan, Put me down for whenever it is. Rain, shine, snow, sleet, whatever I will be there! I would tend towards July over June since we would be into more the T-storms than spring rain. Might want to also make a contigentency plan with Shim regarding doing something at the Barn in case it really, really, really rains!!!! A little informal climbing comp where creativity will be hugely rewarded over any sort of demonstration of skill. Yes, Jake there will be a creative use of a clip stick event!!! Between that and the pool tournamet at the PHP we should have a pretty full weekend no matter what the weather. Bill

Cool - I'm in this year! Isn't June still black fly season? Maybe the rain keeps them off...

In reply to: I have real money that says she does nothing of the sort. You're darn right - I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those net hats. However, after being eaten alive by black flies while climbing a few years ago, I have no problem slathering DEET all over. Anyway, I was kidding about the rain keeping the black flies off...if anything it stirs them and the mosquitos up...
