38 days and counting til the summer trip!

Route suggestions from the peanut gallery please? Looking for:

* Easy 12's to try and do while in Maple for a week in early July.
* Mid-13's ditto above.

What's your flavor? Favorites? Pipedream anyone?

Route suggestions: Brown Hole .12b in Box Canyon and Le Spunk .12a (a bit soft) in Pipedream. There's also a really good 12a/b-ish route in the Pipeline, relatively new, not in the guidebook. Sorry, not too many specific routes come to mind.

But, as far as where to go, and thinking about that grade range, here's something to consider: if you're looking more for steep, endurancy, big cobble pulling (read: jugs and slopers), go for Pipedream and Minimum Crag. If you're wanting more technical, more often crimpy, and not-quite-as-steep, check out Box Canyon. I prefer Box, but that's mostly because it's more my style.

For 13's i've been on only one but the others are word of mouth.
The box Canyon:
Loser is the Classic 13a for power check out Sluggo or Kiss the Cobble
Pipedream endurance routes:
Diggler is the Classic 13a
Squeal Like a Pig is supposed to be really good at 13b
For 13+ try the Great Feast or the La Confienza extention or Sheep Shagger
The Compound also has a boat load of 13's

Have fun....

I'd agree with all the routes mentioned-

I'll Second these:
Cobble in the Sky - Box Canyon
Functional Idiot - Minimum
Diggler - Pipe Dream

Routes at the Minimum wall seem soft if you are fit. Once you go to the Pipe Dream you might not go anywhere else.

Looks like all the South is going to Maple, Noell. A few of us from the RRG are heading to Maple Canyon in late June. When will you be there?

P.S. Did you know that I am the proud aunt of a beautiful nephew. I can't remember the last time we spoke.

Hey there! Well... the South came and went to Maple, then came and went again!! I went there two summers ago for a week and a half, and then spent almost 2 months there this past summer. I LOVE Maple and I am sure that you'll totally dig it too. It's very similar climbing to the Red, the endurance will do you good.

Let me know if you want route suggestions! I've done most of the stuff up in the Pipedream under 13a and LOVE it all! My fav crag, next to the Lode of course. Wink

Congrats on the new family member! That's awesome. Spending time at the RRG this spring? I've had two weekends back so far and was reminded just how pumped one can get in such a short amount of time!
