Who is electable in todays political microscope? Would or could JFK get elected or even nominated in the 2008 election? Hilliary and Gulliani have a ton of baggage to drag around, who has the cred to get elected? Does Obama have the "unknown factor edge"? So far the usual suspects are the worst I have seen since being able to vote. Is there anyone that can lead America after Bush's last four years of darkness? Regards Ye of little faith

Until we do something to radically change how campaigns are funded I don't think any substantial character upgrades will be made available to our political candidates. On the topic of saturation I think we need to force all the states to run their primaries on the same day and that day should be 180 days (and not one day more) in advance of the general election. Every states wants the primary influence that NH and Iowa have enjoyed for decades. California is tired of having everything a foregone conslusion and so move our primary back to the NH date. So for NH to keep pace they'll have to fire even earlier. Eventually the primary for the next election will have to be held before the current administration even takes office! DMT DMT

^^ There's a push that way now, and I also think it would be a huge step forward. NC and SC are the ones I hear about most often. I believe there are more.

All the people who could do the most good are smart enough to stay the hell out of politics. I would still love to see a mixed ticket...... Hegel / Obama anyone?
