I was hoping someone could update me on the condition of the sport climbing in and around Sedona. Have more routes gone up? Have they finished developing any of the areas? Where is the best place to sport climb? Any advice would be most appreciated!

The "Mission to Mars" area has seen some recent development. It is on a W. facing wall near the parking for Church Spires. Park at a Trailhead about 1/4 mi. before church.
Mission to Mars is a radical route. Severely overhanging, big, gymnastic, dynamic movement!
5 - 6 bolted routes to choose from (5.11 - 5.13).
Have you checked out the Red Lizard (5.11)?

I havent checked out the Red Lizard. I will definitely climb Mission to Mars and the area routes. Thanks for the info! The guide I have made it seem as if there was nothing there, only some beginning development.

Old thread, I know. There are sport routes in Sedona, but there isn't a lot and they tend to be spread out quite a bit. There is the Dr's Office, which is too cold in winter. Mission to Mars and Twin Buttes near the church (although I need to lower the anchor on Genetic Continuity). Smell My Finger in Lost Canyon. The Red Lizard near the cemetery. Center of Singularity at Slide Rock, as well as some stuff north of the parking area. And some sporadic mixed routes here and there. The highest concentration of sport routes is at the Mission to Mars area. From left to right: 13a scary crack, 11c arete, llb face, 11 crack, 12b, 12d (Mission), 13a, 12a, 12b (way right). The names are listed in the data base.

If memory serves (and it's been a while), there are four or five sport lines from 5.9 to mid-11 near the Anvil Boulders... See http://mountainproject.com/...anvil_rock/105825191

Verical Relief in Flagstaff would probably have the best beta.
