Maybe. I just moved from Hamilton to Vancouver for work three weeks ago. I haven't had the chance to touch rock since I've been here and it's getting depressing (I mean, I knew it'd be like this, but it's still depressing). I just need to figure out how to get out there... it's a bit of a walk.

For the fist time in eight years I'm not going to working durring the May Long Weekend!!! What the hell. I'm in. My new goal in life is to climb every trad route in Skaha. I'm well on my way, time to start climbing the 5.11 routes now. You know the best part about climbing hard trad routes in skaha on the may long weekend.???? No line ups.

Whoa, that's far off... but it sounds good to me. Anyone from Squampton or Vangroovy to car pool ? I reserve the right to bail at the last minute if the weather looks stupid.

Hey I'm probably going to be in Kelowna on april 8th arriving in the afternoon and want to climb the entire day of April 9th. Is anyone going to be around? I'll be in need of a climbing partner. I climb 5.11 + sport and have some trad experience under my belt. Please email me at vadik8745@hotmail.com if you need a partner or don't mind an extra person in your group kind regards ahead of time, Vadim also you can call me at 604 317 5831

Any news regarding the possible access issues? I've never been, but it would suck to have such a (apparently) great place become even more difficult to get to.

Article (edited) from the local paper here the other day: MEC announced a $250,000 grant towards The Land Conservancy’s campaign to acquire a permanent access to the Penticton area bluffs. The donation represents the largest land acquisition grant in the outdoor retailer’s history. MEC also promises to match its members’ individual donations, up to a maximum of $100,000. The Land Conservancy is attempting to raise $1 million to acquire a nearby 300-hectare property above Smythe Drive, which would provide a permanent parking lot and access to the popular rock climbing area. Bill Turner, executive-director of The Land Conservancy, said the property owner, a New Westminster man, has agreed to a two-month extension on the property purchase allowing the TLC to continue fundraising until the end of June. It had earlier faced a deadline of April 30. Turner said the financial support from Mountain Equipment Co-op could help secure additional funding. The TLC has applied for a $400,000 grant from the Habitat Conservation Trust Fund and $250,000 from the B.C. Trust for Public Land Fund. The Land Conservancy official is confident the government will contribute at least some of the requested amount to the project when the trust fund boards make a decision before the end of June. Turner said $22,750 in private donations has already been made on-line since the campaign was launched last month.

Somehow I got roped into working the May long in the Rockies. Oh well - Easter in Skaha was good.

Me and mine (3 confirmed) are also gonna be heading over to Skaha for the may long weekend. Any tips on places to stay? We might also be looking for a fourth to reduce sitting around and waiting. We all lead about 10C (hope get up to 11a by then) and we have two ropes and a bunch of draws. We plan on climbing mostly sport, but we also have some trad gear we're looking to use. PM me if you want to meet up. Also, we'll be driving from Calgary down to Skaha and we have room for more, we potentially have two groups going up. Group 1 - will leave Calgary on Thursday at noon and return for Monday afternoon, room for up to 3 ppl. Group 2 - will leave Calgary on Friday at noon and return for Monday LATE in the evening (like 3 am), room for 1.

Most climbers camp at the Water World campground. Two min drive to the crags and a hot tub. On a long weekend, you may want to book ahead... There's also a few cheap motels in the same area. PM me if you have any other questions about the area.

We have room in our car and tent for 1, (or room at our site for two in one tent) and we also have gear. If there is a single joining us they would only need to bring their shoes, belay device, skills, and sparkling personality :) We have a site reserved at Waterworld. Is anyone else camping there?? Is anyone taking over organizing the skaha thing now that Macherry can't come??? If noone is, maybe I'll put together a list of ppl going, plus skills, sport vs. trad, and a meeting spot for all of us to meet at Friday morning if we're not all camping together.

Weddings wreck everyone's summer, what kind of jerk has their wedding on a long weekend?? I still want to go. Maybe on my own, going to send a quite mail to the partners but they might not be game. Was planning on waterworld but don't care where I stay.
