I'm going to switzerland for about a month this summer, and I was wondering where the best places to go are for single pitch, sport or trad climbs around/under the 5.10 range. Any good guide book would also be helpful. I will be all around the country so location doesnt matter.

Take a look at the route database for some info... Switzerland is a rather target rich environment. Best choices will depend on weather, transportation (by public transport or by car), your preferences etc.

Most single pitch climbing you find here is well bolted, no need to schlepp your rack. There are also plenty of moderate multi pitch climbs (double ropes preferred).

For guide books see www.filidor.ch .

One of my favorites for a day of climbing would be Sunneplättli Gersau (see route DB, central Switzerland). Short approach, gorgeous view, fun little place. No good on a hot day.

What is the reason to limit yourself to single pitch climbing? Why don't you expand your range to at least 3 pitches? Some of the best in my opinion are:

- val malvaglia and sobrio (ticino)
- the crags in the valle maggia (ticino)
- dällenboden (interlaken)
- some crags in the jura (northwestern switzerland)
- gorge de la borgne (valais)

enjoy it!

I would love to do some three pitch routes, the only issue is that I will be climbing with my sister, who is very much a beginer and I'm not sure if i would completely trust taking an inexperianced climber on multipitch climbs... but i will consider something short like 3 pitch. Thanks for the beta!
