Hi

Someone just posted this on a local forum, the rivet fell off after about 10 placements, was never loaded by a fall.

He wrote he would write to Omega later on.

Hopefully it is just a defect with just this one.

I checked Omega's website and didn't see anything in terms of a notice or warning. That kind of failure is downright scary. It'd be one thing if the rivet holding the cable came out, but the one holding the outer lobe?! Jeez, I was considering eventually buying a couple of the link cams to add to my rack as crux pieces, but seeing this picture certainly gives me second thoughts. I'll be waiting to hear more on this...

Quoted for truth.

The link cam seems like a nice idea - but there's a reason everyone loves a bomber nut - KISS. The less working parts there are, the less parts there are that can stop working.

Link?

Caution is always a good idea, but I wouldn't abandon link cams or think all are defective because of a single picture and a note about a local forum without some more information...

Hey, All ...

Nobody's contacted us about this, yet. If anyone has any information about how we can get in touch with the owner of the cam, I'd appreciate it. Call me personally at 800.360.3990 or email our inbox at info@omegapac.com.

As soon as we get hold of the Original OP (and what forum was this lifted from?) and learn about this issue, I'll post again to let you know what we found out.

Needless to say, we take this sort of thing very seriously and are eager to resolve it quickly.

Thanks to all.

On the other hand, F*CK U to this idiot:

The company has promptly responded, what do you say we let them sort it out before you start "airing out" your fears and fueling the fire.

If it's that scary, stay in the gym where it's nice and safe.

F'n noobs.

Michael,

If you haven't been able to find it yet, I did some searching and the picture in original post above came from the following Forum:

Who lists his homepage as:

His posting there is in Danish, so if someone would like to translate it, please feel free to go ahead!

And if you're really interested, here is the result of what I got when I pasted the danish forum page into a free online Danish to English Translator. I claims to be extremely accurate. It looks really good to me. You decide:

I just bought 3 of the things and they truely ARE the most amazing things out there! I love the damn things despite my previous mental forgivings when looking at the pics (before trying or buying one). Not talking about the pic above, which won't keep me from plugging them into some splitters this weekend, but I plan on checking mine carefully first.

You will be stunned at the range, smoothness and the grip of these cams.

Hey Linkcam dude, thank you for jumping all over this! Your cams are incredible. I've been climbing 36 some years and have seen about everything thats headed down the pike...these are the best.

This is the best way to handle an issue like this, head on, up front and fast. (Like Wild country when they had a few Helium issues). Hopefully only one missed being pressed.

I'll keep digging and we'll keep you informed.

I will second this. An excellent response. It's really too bad CCH didn't take this attitude when the Alien issues popped up.

Hats off to you! Now get back to work, inquiring minds want to knowWink

Hi Michael,

Is Omega Pacific ISO 9000 certified? I assume you have a CE if you're selling in Europe.

Thanks, Kim
