I think it's supposed to be Not All Roses.
Funny shit. I hope he doesn't comply with the C&D, if there really was one. There's absolutely no question that's this is protected speech.

I guess my sense of humor isn't as good as I thought. I meant that this was Dean Potters way of getting even after the Steph Davis verse in She's on Fire.
Jay, I saw Gym Hoes performed live one foggy night this summer before it was released. It was a couple months before I got to hear it again. Have you checked out that booty song? I nearly shit.

Someone on that forum nailed it: Dean went out of his way to publicize the ascent by shooting it in still and video, so now he has to deal with the reprecussions of being an idiot (in this case).
He pissed a lot of people off; not saying we should burn the guy at the stake, but getting lawyers involved for defamation after illegaly ascending (and publicizing) the arch is like punching someone, breaking your hand, and then suing them for having too hard a face.

What's most funny about this is in the lawyer's letter to Odub, he sites Dean's loss of future earnings due to Odub's song.
Dean is most responsible for his loss of future earnings. He got himself canned from Patagonia and lost his alledged $60K/yr gig with them. Dean needs sue himself for his loss of future earnings.
He's nothing but a damn hypocrite. He want's publicity for his climbing and then when he gets it (via a means that he didn't intend), he wants to sue. Geesh.

Heh, loss of future earnings... I'm trying my best to think of a single instance in which Potter's lawyer could even come close to proving that in court. It's BEYOND speculation to say that a song written by a MINOR artist can have any financial consequences to Potter. I mean, if this whole thing hadn't been brought up, I never would have even heard of Odub, and I'm sure there are plenty more in my boat.

Agreed, I wouldn't buy it either. That's not what the attorney wrote in his original letter:
Original_Cease_And_Desist wrote: My name is <attorney name deleted> and I represent Mr. Dean Potter. It has come to my client’s attention that you have publicly released a song titled “Not All Roses” (hereinafter “NAR”)
So is he saying that he lied in his original letter about deans knowledge and initiation? Isn't this grounds for disbarment?

FUCK. The fact that anyone cares is 99.9% of the problem. I am drunk. My chin is a little skinned up because riding handle bars is dangerous.
