I am going back to utah from hawaii over the summer. I used to rockclimb mostly in the gym when I was living there before, but I never did many outdoor climbs. I enjoy bouldering the most, and dont have the gear for doing larger climbs. I was wondering what spots people recommended around Salt Lake to go bouldering. I have been to a few places that I liked, but I was young and don't remember the names. Thanks for any help, I look forward to being out there this summer!. -Allen

If you want to go on a road trip, Joe's Valley has some of the best bouldering around IMO. Plenty of good stuff near SL too though. Try Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Tons of great bouldering in Utah. Check out A Bouldering Guide to Utah (Baldwin, Beck, Russo). Called the "bible" of bouldering there because it was written by the developers of the areas. Includes several areas around Salt Lake, Ogden, and Provo, Joes Valley, Triassic, Ibex, Moab, and the areas around Cedar City and St. George. Something like 5,000 problems listed in the book. Have fun!

In Salt Lake...go to little cottonwood canyon. It has enough bouldering there to keep you busy for a while. And it is easy to find too.

Joes Valley and Moab has some fum bouldering. I am not a huge fan of LCC, but that is b/c granite and I don't agree (tears the crap our of my hands).
