I just read this on the Gripped Site, and haven't seen anything posted on it.
Gripped wrote: April 23, 2007 – Climbing Equipment Designer Dies Hugh Banner, founder of the UK based HB Climbing, died after being admitted to a hospital for a recent illness. Banner, an accomplished climber, was known for developing and manufacturing a series of innovative camming devices and nuts. More details as they become available. Ohh, Hugh, So sorry to hear. We had some great times together and I look back on those fondly. The world is a poorer place without you, Hugh. All the best to Maureen. I'm so sorry. Mal

The community has lost another great climber. I had the opportunity to work with Hugh for several years as a US distributor of HB Equipment. He was a brilliant man with a great sense of humor. His stories of early exploits with legendary climbers kept me riveted and I was always amazed at his product ideas and observations. I'll miss you Hugh. Eric Barrett
