HI ... being new to climbing this year, I'm really looking forward to the clinics, the vidieo, and especially the festivities. Looking forward to meeting new people! I'm pretty much a local, so the transport will be easy.

Check out www.rocktoberfest.org. I really enjoy the pic of Ray on Let's Brachiate, a route that is (as of last time I checked) closed. It was closed due to the installation of the via ferrata. The VF was considered necessary by the owner's of torrent to continue to earn a living. The via ferrata is being promoted as a big attraction at this year's fest. So, if we pay to do the via ferrata can we gear up and jump on Let's Brachiate???

I believe the answer to be no. From what i understand is that due to the insurance policy for the VF, the area is designated specifically for that purpose. But don't hold me to that, it is heresay. It would be best to pose the question to the owner. ONE MORE WEEK, Can't wait. I had the opportunity to see Jeff Neal's video and it is AWESOME!!!! Can't wait for the official debut!

i was told by the owner of the via farratta that climbing is completely closed in that area. i am not certain of the reasons, but he said it had to be that way. i think it was because of insurance reasons. curious george: i am pretty sure the VF was not necessary for income. the owner (mark) told me they were approached by some other company and became interested in the idea of hosting the first VF in the country. i know their resort was/is thriving... anyways, mark and kathy are the owners of torrent falls and via farratta. they are great people and love climbers. mark cooks some excellent food (including vegetatian) at the via farratta. the torrent falls area is open to climbers. they are sponsoring and hosting many of the events for the fest to show their support for climbers. we need more people like them! check out the vending booths at the fest. many companies (including us) will be there with great deals on everything. the clinics should be great! the film that is being shown on saturday can be seen at rrgvideo.com - the trailer looks great - I cant wait to see the whole thing!

for those first timers to the red, Miguel's pizza is the little yellow resturant on the left hand side when you head south on 11, just a couple minutes south of the rest stop. look for the million climber-mobiles in the large parking lot.

Well, Rocktoberfest seems to have been a complete success! I had a great time, all 18 hours of it. I was exhausted by the time I got home.
