Maybe some kind of partially organized send-fest for charity?

I'm against the charity thing. Keep it simple and spontaneous, I think. But I'll back it if everybody wants to do it. Edit: I'm totally making beanie weanie for the potluck. You muthafuckas are gonna love that shit. Surprise and amazement guaranteed or I'll refund your registration fee.

Howzabout September 21-22-23? The weather will have cooled by then and the oppressive humidity will be gone. I think it's before all the Triple Crown dates, too.

Regardless when you're thinking of having this shindig I'm thinking of heading up either over Labour day weekend or maybe around Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 5-8th for me this year).

Ok so here's the Basic plan 1. Camp/Party at Rogers Friday and Saturday Night? -BYOB -Bring Your own Food or Potluck Dinner 2. Climb Saturday and Sunday -gather in groups or climb alone what ever floats your boat 3. Go Home Feeling warm and fuzzy. Other Ideas to make things slightly More complicated 1. Locals Slide Show/movie night-Have some of the local crew show some cool photos/movies or talk about some of the routes they have been working...etc 2. Someone DJ in the evenings and have dancing or something 3. Everyone chip in and get a keg, and some Pies from Pies and Pints saturday night I'm Just curious, how many people do you all expect will attend this gathering?

wow, what started off as a half-hearted, jokingly idea, this really caught on. I know I'm game for anything and will help out as much as possible.

For the record my opinion is we pick the date and place, have the pot luck Saturday night and for everything else, wing it.

J_ung, How do we put that on a T-shirt??? Ok, has the thread started or shall I do the honors? Let's just pick a weekend, a place to stay, possible field or established camp ground??? And agree that we will put our chef hats on and feed each other.

Questions ready for answers: 1. So is it the "RC.com NRG Minivous," officially? 2. September 21, 22, 23 (that's Friday night, Saturday, Sunday)? 3. Roger's?

Before we decide on Rogers, we'd better ok it with him first just to make sure things are cool. Setember is cool with me. I dont care so much about the name i just want to go climbing. So what ever you guys decide. Also maybe we should start a mailing list of peopls who are interested so that we can remind everyone when september rolls around. Is it possible to use the current rendezvous website somehow?

Is it possible to use the current rendezvous website somehow? Since this is an RC.com based get-together...wouldn't using this thread be sufficient? Everyone click "Watch Thread" Then, you will get the emails to check this thread as time gets closer.

Petzl and Fixe. RE: using the existing Rendezvous website, I doubt it. I'll ask at the next Board meeting, but I can virtually guarantee that it'll be a no.

Heres another question: if its a "sending Party" should we try to see how many routes we can tick in one weekend as a group? Maybe have a list of classics and everyone can try to tick them off or something. (just and idea)

I don't think that there is any need to use the existing Rendezvous site. After all this is a gathering, I'm not expecting a blow-out, let's keep this simple, food place to stay and climbing.

As far as the keg goes, i would just wait to see who shows up then "pass the hat" to take up donations for the beer fund.....

I'm all for kegs. I think it can help reduce waste too. I agree that small and simple is essential. Having a head count would really play a huge part though in what we need to prepare for. I'm thinking about this as another chance for more climbers to meet, get drunk, and go climbing. Not necessarily in that order. I would bet on more of a get-together than a party.

I too would like to submit my unrequested vote for a keg. I also have a beautiful, hand crafted, "import vs domestic" themed beer pong table that can make an appearance. Roger's sounds good to me, given his approval, of course. I'd come with at least two others...
