Well, a well known person that did climb was Robert F. Kennedy, doing a first ascent of Mt. Kennedy (named after the late JFK) with Jim Whittaker in 1965.

Ah but the question should be are there any current politicians who climb. Nyuck, nyuck, nyah, get a hold of a list of those and then start lobbying. ...Phil...

Brokaw was introduced to climbing by Yvon Chouinard while taking a lesson at the Exum School at Jenny Lake. He and Yvon became good friends and have climbed together a number of times. A few years ago they did a very primitive ascent of Mt. Moran, camping with no sleeping bags, limited food, etc. I believe I've read that Joseph Feinnes (sp ?)is a rock climber.

Someone told me that Hank Williams Jr (country singer) used to be a climber . . took a bad fall and ended up with huge scars on his face, so now he always has a big beard. don't know if that's true or not.

That is true about Hank...Here is a quote from Hank's biography: It was during this period of hope that tragedy struck again. While on a mountain climbing vacation in Montana, Hank tumbled 500 feet down Ajax Mountain crushing his skull and face. Miraculously, he survived. Even before the completion of several reconstructive surgeries, Bocephus started touring. He built a new audience of "rowdy friends" and began his climb to icon status. Ok - so I used to watch this show called Buffy - I ADMIT IT OK! See why it's so embarrasing is I don't watch tv at all now, but, I remember hearing that Charisma Carpenter - who played the snotty Cordelia - she rockclimbs. It's all true.
