Your mind man, far out! Seriously though, improve technique and by climbing a lot the muscles you need will develop.

pete44 wrote: If I'm a beginner climber what muscles should I seek to improve upon? Pete To quote an old SNL skit, "The question is moot!" If you are a beginner then you get tired fast and your forearms pump out and don't recover etc. To conclude from this that you need to emphasize muscular training is actually incorrect. The most challenging and important aspect of learning to climb, is learning the unique movement patterns found in climbing. You need high volumes, of low intensity but high quality movement practice. Through this you will learn movement and you will rapidly gain climbing specific fitness. Look into taking classes at a nearby gym (if there is one) and check out my book which contains many movement learning activities.
