He's not famous by any means, but a lot of Scottish / English climbers may know of him. He died in July of 2006 in either France or Switzerland.
I was wondering if anyone had any details of the fall he took. I went to school with Mat and he is one of the two people who introduced me to climbing in Edinburgh. I've never heard the full story, and would like to know.

i never met him, but i'm sure a few of my mates knew him. it's always a shame to hear about these accidents.
