Just in case people think that the Nordegg area has nothing to offer sport climbers, i'd encourage you to think again and make a trip out there to check it out. I've been out to the Dark Side a couple times now, and i'm amazed by the quality of the climbs going on in there, not to mention the endless potential that still remains for new routes.

Check it out!

That's really good to know as I'm paying close to 300 bucks for a sport course there in August.

*please don't let me be the worst climber there*

how is it for the weather we are currently having? lots of shade? climbing in 30 deg celc with the sun beating down on your face isn't fun in my book!

The Dark Side is really hot in the morning, but makes for a nice escape from the blazing sun all afternoon (cliff's in shade from 1:30pm onward).

Abraham Slabs is scorching hot, facing west soaking the sun in the heat of the day.

Oh, this endless heat ...

Hey how did that go? Something at COE? Are you a convert yet...

I love Nordegg. Quiet, a pretty good variety of climbs, a quick escape to the rain shadow at Kootenay Plains on those wet days and you can't beat the view from the Slabs

woot

Oh my gosh it was great! Really just an awesome course and well worth the cash. It was paced perfectly so that you didn't get bored and feel unchallenged, but you also didn't get taken out to stuff that was gonna scare the crap out of you your first time sport climbing.

Funny you should mention Kootenay - we actually had to go out there cuz the weather was just crap the first day ;op Really odd how there's just this small round patch of clear sky surrounded by dark grey clouds...
